Matt Johnson Music.org Up and Running

My new website, www.mattjohnsonmusic.org, is up and running. It contains MP3s of the tracks that are going to end up on the new album (tentatively called “Death and Taxes”) and some other odds and sods. In the coming weeks I plan on putting up a couple of other MP3s, some songs that wont make the album and maybe some of my earlier low fi recordings. There are also synopsis of all of the songs plus some other random thoughts that are clunking around my head.

So far the response has been overwhelming. I have sent out demos to a couple of people who have been really supportive. I am still having a hard time convincing some of my friends to give this stuff a shot because I think that I am a friend to them, not a musician. I have also heard from a couple of people who I have never met which is incredibly gratifying. It makes the investment in the music and website all worth while.

Going to start actively pursuing gigs next week. I sent out a couple of emails to places that have music but usually you have to actually go into these places to get booked. If you know a good place to play in Minneapolis, let me know…

Listening to Oasis Definitely Maybe right now and loving it. Somehow when I talk of my favorite band, I always forget about these guys yet whenever I put them on I thing ‘I SHOUL LISTEN TO MORE FUCKING OASIS.’ Some times need a little unapologetic, over distorted rock and roll.
